Adding A Web Page
This tutorial will quickly show
you how to add pages to your site.
|
| 1. |
Log onto your account to access the
site manager. |
| 2. |
Click the New Web Page Icon. |
| 3. |
Naming - It is best to leave this at the default
setting which is Rename New Pages. This will help prevent duplicate
names.

Important Note:
For a variety of reasons, your home page (main page of the site)
should always be named index.html |
| 4. |
Choose your preference.

Create Blank - This adds a blank un-named page to your site.
The default editor is the built in WYSIWYG (what you see is
what you get) editor. Use this option if you want to build a
page from scratch. Not recommended for web design beginners.
Create HTML - This also adds a blank un-named
page to your site. The default editor is the built in Internet
Explorer WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. This
also offers the option of editing the HTML code directly (you
need to know html for that). Use this option if you want to
build a page from scratch. Not recommended for web design beginners.
Create From Set / Single - This is the preferred
method for most beginners as it uses professionally designed
site templates. The sets are more business oriented and create
several pages at once. The singles create a single page. To
use this option just scroll down the template options and make
your choice. |
| 5. |
For this tutorial, just select a single and create
it. |
| 6. |
The site manager has now moved you to the file
manager and your new file has appeared there. The default page
name is index.html Detailed instructions on using the file manager
are covered in the file manager tutorial, but first finish this
tutorial. |
| 7. |
Click the New Web Page Icon. |
| 8. |
For this tutorial, select another single and
create it. This may be the same or different |
| 9. |
The site manager has again moved you to the file
manager and your new file has appeared there. However since the
default page name (index.html) is used already your second page
has been named index_1.html |
| 10. |
index_1.html is not very descriptive, so let's
rename it about.html Click the rename icon next
to index_1.html The file manager will double check with you if
you really want to rename the file - click ok. |
| 11. |
The
next screen will have an area that looks like this. Replace index_1
with about and click ok. |
| 12. |
You are now back in your file manager and you
should see two files - index.html and about.html |
| 13. |
That covers the basics of adding pages to your
site. This same technique will be used for each page added unless
you design your pages in an offline editor and upload them (if
you have the know how to do this then you don't really need this
tutorial). |
